3. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)
For users located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, RoadTribe processes personal data only when a valid legal basis exists under GDPR. Account creation, profile management, trip recording, and route storage are processed as part of performing our contract with you, as these functions are essential to providing the RoadTribe service. Social features such as feeds, likes, comments, and follower interactions are processed based on our legitimate interests in operating a social road-tracking platform, while still respecting your privacy and visibility controls.
Precise location data is processed only with your explicit consent and only during active trip recording or when live convoy features are enabled. Analytics and performance monitoring data are processed based on your consent, which may be withdrawn at any time through your device or account settings. Service-related communications necessary for account operation and security are processed under legitimate interests.
